And the friend count continues...

So far, the feedback rate for the Friend Outreach program is 100%! Although, to date that only includes three people, that's three people I know better than I did a few weeks ago. The reach right now includes Houston, NYC and Calgary, and I think by the end of the campaign, I should be able to reach all across Canada and the United States!

The Friend Track - first success!

I have officially made contact with the first friend of my friend tracking campaign - a good friend and neighbour of mine when I lived in the UK. I don't believe that we have spoken in the last 14 years, and in that time both of us have graduated university, gotten married and there is even a baby in the picture! How fast we all grow up.

I also found out that her husband has family in the area that we live, and have been up to visit serveral times. So now, the next time they visit, I will be able to see a friend that I haven't seen in 14 years! That seems like a great reason for this test to me! Hopefully I will have more successes to report in the weeks to come!

A new reason for this blog...

Ok - so I have finally determined a reason for this blog, which should make it more useful. As a new start to 2011 I am going to make it a priority to keep in touch with all the friends that I have made in my life. After a recent move from my home town, it now seems necessary to make sure that I don't lose the friends that I have, and hopefully find new friends through my current ones.

So here goes...I am going to start with Facebook friends, followed by Linked In contacts and business associates and contact one person each day until I have talked to them all. I want to find out what they are doing now, what their plans for the future are, etc - really get to know them again.

Let's start the count - I have 177 Facebook friends, which as far as I know, is fairly minimal in terms of Facebook. Hopefully, once I have heard back from people, I will have updates on how to maintain long-distance friendships.
